The 3 best boat trips in Mallorca
It is very difficult to choose just three, as Mallorca is an enclave of infinite opportunities, and the more you get to know it, the more you still have to discover. Its crystal-clear coves, majestic landscapes and marine life are one of its greatest assets. Sunsets, dolphins, sea breezes and much more await you. These are the best boat trips in Mallorca:
Boat trip to Sa Calobra
The boat trip to Sa Calobra is one of the most popular activities in Mallorca and how could it not be! The trip starts in Puerto de Sóller (50 minutes from Finca Serena) in the west of the island. With a duration of 50 minutes, you will enjoy some inconceivable landscapes and views, with protagonists such as the puig Major, Cala Tuent, the electricity factory of Sa Costera, the defensive tower of Sa Torre Picada or the torrent of Pareis.
Route to Formentor
Formentor is one of the most emblematic enclaves in Mallorca. So much so that the Balearic Government has imposed restrictions on access to the area by land transport. For this reason, a boat trip is an ideal alternative to visit this spot full of crystal-clear waters, white sandy beaches, and an atmosphere of disconnection.
We propose two different experiences:
- The first is from Puerto de Alcudia (45 minutes from Finca Serena), where you can enjoy an hour on the beach of Formentor to swim, take a stroll, have a refreshing drink in the restaurant on the beach or simply lie on the sand to disconnect.
- The second is from Puerto de Pollensa (50 minutes from Finca Serena) with a 25-minute ride on a glass-bottomed boat to marvel at the local marine flora and fauna.
In addition, you can also visit Cape Fomentor with a day sea trip from Pollensa to cross the coast of the Serra de Tramuntana.
Dolphin experience
Enjoy a unique dolphin-sighting experience in Mallorca. That's right, the island is a meeting place for these marine mammals, which can be seen very early in the morning and especially in the north of Mallorca. We recommend taking the catamaran excursion from Puerto de Pollensa (50 minutes from Finca Serena) to see the dolphins up close and not let a bit of choppy water ruin your day.
Booking in advance is essential and remember, the trips are organised from April to October and early in the morning to coincide with the sunrise when the chances of seeing these dolphins are at their highest.
Where to rent a boat in Mallorca?
You can hire your boat route from a tour company, although one of the options you have for surfing the Mediterranean Sea around Mallorca is to rent a boat. You have options to do so along almost the entire coastline of the island, so we recommend that you first prepare your route so that you have a dream trip.
However, we suggest you do it in the north of the island, just 45 minutes by car from our 5* hotel Finca Serena Mallorca, as this area is unique for the variety and beauty of its landscape.
If you opt for this option, keep in mind that boat rental companies in Mallorca have boats, yachts, sailboats, catamarans and more. Luckily, everything here is a fantastic option. Prices for unlicensed boats can range from €155 to €190 per day and yachts from €725 to €790. If you're travelling in high season, book in advance to ensure availability.
Don't miss out on these alternative boat tours
We're afraid to leave you with only three boat tours in Mallorca, so we suggest some more that can complete your stay on the island of Mallorca:
Catamaran trips
To enjoy a catamaran excursion around Mallorca, we recommend you book it in advance. Its comfort and the fact that you can be out in the open air at all times has made it increasingly popular. You will have routes in all areas and of different durations, although the north of the island has a great reputation for its good sea conditions and, as we mentioned before, it provides you with some dreamy coves perfect for anchoring.
Sailing trips
Sailing on a sailboat is an experience like no other. If you have never tried it before, now is the time. Feel the sea breeze like never before. In addition, you will have the opportunity to swim in crystal clear coves, snorkel and there will even be drinks and food on board. An authentic, exclusive, and private way of getting to know the coast of Mallorca. Discover here a unique sailing route to discover the most charming enclaves of the coast such as Cape Formentor or Cala Sant Vicenç while you appreciate the beautiful sunset of the island.
Getaway to Cabrera
Visit the only national park in the Balearic Islands with this trip to some unspoilt islets. You can leave the port of Colonia de Sant Jordi (just 35 minutes from Finca Serena), and in just over half an hour you'll find yourself overlooking an archipelago perfect for hiking, snorkelling, and even visiting the museum and castle of Cabrera.
